Like many, this teacher felt intense pressure to teach the standards and wasn’t sure how to embrace Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and blended learning. This is where the combination of UDL and blended learning has the potential to be so powerful. This is not unusual.
I like to compare the teacher’s work designing learning experiences to the work of an architect. I wanted students to collaborate, communicate, and create at that online station using the devices as a tool. They conducted research, investigated topics, and accessed online texts, resources, and tools. It is a series of stations, or learning activities, that students rotate through. Technology is simply a vehicle.

Stachowiak suggests including at least three polls or opportunities to interact during each online class session. In fact, a lot of it's getting really critical, like, “What you're doing, that's not online teaching—you're not in the cool kids club.” I love what many of the universal design for learning people say.
Student agency, or a students’ ability to make key decisions about their learning experience, is an essential aspect of blended learning. Student agency requires that we design our lessons to offer students meaningful choices.
We talked about the differences between accessibility and usability, legal considerations under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and the concept of UDL (universal design for learning).
