The traditional forms of sit-and-get PD are giving way to MOOCs, webinars, Edcamps and flipped learning. There are lots of new and exciting ways to take control of your own professional learning. In the spring of 2014, a team from the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation launched to first rendition of a Massive Open Online Course for Educators (MOOC-Ed), titled Coaching Digital Learning | Cultivating a Culture of Change (CDL). 73% of the MOOC-Ed participants indicated the Twitter Chats as Valuable or higher.
However, as we become increasingly connected to each other through technology, and our social ties strengthen, so there is greater scope for students to learn together, sharing their resources and ideas, and approaching their study collaboratively. Collaborative learning does not undermine or contradict personalised learning.
Here is my Unit 2 reflection for the MOOC-Ed, Coaching Digital Learning: Cultivating a Culture of Change. Unit 2 focuses on the development of your PLN (Professional LearningNetwork) and becoming a "Connected Educator". The conversations are rich and the resources are plentiful!
Subject strands include changes in the classroom (social media, 1:1 computing, "flipped classrooms," digital literacy, maker spaces, gaming, open educational resources, digital textbooks), in student learning (individualized learning, student-directed learning, "hacking" education, personal success plans, ePortfolios, and building a digital presence), (..)
Foster your PersonalLearningNetwork (PLN) with educators both locally and globally to build your own capacity, and create a dedicated team to support your work on the ground. Ask questions about current learning and teaching practices to have and begin crucial conversations with educators. Relevance and Rigor.

Or even a less known hashtag that you know your followers check regularly, like for a currently running MOOC on a relevant topic. I am in Egypt and this happening in my morning, so I selected people from my PLN ( PersonalLearningNetwork ) who were in UK and Australia timezones. Please share in comments!
During the conference opening sessions we brainstormed as set of grassroots global education projects that we could bring to our personallearningnetworks to try to get started. We voted on five project to to focus on right away with a set of basic questions for each: " What do you want to do?
