One drawback to LMS platforms is that they are not uniform in the level of technologicalsupport that they provide to users. This becomes a problem in the educational realm, as different academic disciplines typically require different levels of baseline technologicalsupport.
Socialmedia is like a giant search engine that we can tap any time. It can be a common area, a library or a space with flexibility. The best way to think about it is through this quote from Michael Fullan, “pedagogy is the driver, technology is the accelerator.” Is there a learning target that the technologysupports?
There are a lot myths out there and even our best technologysupport personnel may lack understandings of what must be blocked versus what does not. Sometimes it’s simple confusion around what actually must be filtered.

Outside of school YouTube is the go to resource for learning anything.
In Port Orford, Oregon, it’s a quick walk from the elementary and middle school building to the town library—the two buildings are right down the street from each other. In fact, the town library and school are linked by more than geography, since the school district’s two libraries became part of the Port Orford library system in 2017.
