This perspective stems from a lack of clarity about what blended learning is and why it is valuable. Teachers returning to classrooms for the new school year can leverage models like the station rotation , whole group rotation , flippedclassroom , and playlist to design student-centered learning experiences that shift control to the learner.
The idea is that students first learn course content online, usually at home, and the time in the classroom is devoted to what used to be traditionally homework, with the teacher’s assistance. Many articles have been written on how the idea of a FlippedClassroom has gained currency with the advent of eBooks and digital learning content.
While I was at FETC I ran into Jon Bergmann who is best known for his work on the FlippedClassroom. We had our usual talk on ideas that support both PBL and Flipped Learning. I have traveled the country delivering PD relating to technology integration, PBL, STEM, Digital Literacy, and the 4 C’s.

This realistic webtool is an excellent scaffold for MS and HS students connecting STEM to their curiosity and excitement about space. It can be included in a list of websites that students independently access during flippedclassroom preparation for a space unit. Movement in space is slow and requires patience and precision.

That’s the basic idea of a flippedclassroom. One of the things I was searching for with a flippedclassroom was how that was eventually going to change my classes. The basic concept there is you’re taking the lectures and you’re putting those at home, and the stuff that is normally done at home is now done in class.
