Speaking from experience, I have significantly benefited from not only engaging in digital spaces but taking what I have learned and applying it to my practice, which I can readily show when asked or communicate through my blog. I have written in the past about the need to move from professional development (PD) to professional learning.

Image credit: [link] The other day I had the unique challenge and opportunity of working with elementary teachers in the Spotswood School District. The goal was simple, to introduce and train them on some age appropriate technology tools while identifying natural pedagogical fits. Please share in the comments section.

Virtual breakout rooms and digital tools allow all students to respond during reviews of prior learning, checks for understanding, closure activities, and after collaborative activities. The elementary teachers are also using both Seesaw and Canvas to promote voice. The elementary school has also upped their game as of late.

The College of Education and Human Performance at the University of Central Florida strives to be at the forefront of innovation in teacher training and development. Micro-credentials were included in the Elementary Education program at UCF to provide students an opportunity to engage in personalized learning opportunities in multiple ways.

My vision was to increase access and equity in a science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM) curriculum for elementary students. Teachers are the key to success with a 3D printing program, so they need training and support along the way. This was a lot of hands-on learning for them. Happy printing!

With little to no training or preparation, they have stepped up to keep learning going. A recent eSchool News article highlighted that most teachers don’t feel fully prepared for remote learning. teachers in mid-March to collect and share best practices, ideas, and common approaches to remote learning.

I learned about Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling Suite (LETRS) from my mentor principal at the state department, which works with schools like Central Elementary to establish the specific benchmarks that each Alabama school must reach. Now, our entire staff of 27 is working through the program.
