Though I was a little bummed a few deserving nominees didn''t make it in, it was excellent that the event actually acknowledged SLPs as a standout and active group in the effort that defines the whole purpose of the awards- to acknowledge educators who are sharing through social media and help educators find and follow this content.

It was in 2010 that I invited educational bloggers to form an alliance with me (no need for secrecy). I’m writing about SumBlox here anyway because technology led to the happy discovery of SumBlox and is a great reminder of why it is important to be a connected educator! I learned about SumBlox just a few weeks ago on Twitter as a share from ISTE from @michellek107 and @sumblox. These are going to be popular!
I feel less like connecting with friends, less like engaging in conversations on Twitter that I normally love. Beyond the inspiration, these are people who walk along side educators to help them use that inspiration to inform change. We’ve got artists who think like educators. But this year…this year is different!
So often I see the same sentiment from educators involved in education dialogue, “Wouldn’t it be nice if a school were doing _. ” As an educator, I felt the same. For all of you who have dreamed a different kind of school, a different kind of education, this conference is for you. Kelly Tenkely.
