At this point I had convinced myself that technology would be the savior of education. Only, the more that I talked to teachers, the more I talked with administrators, the more I looked for investors, the more that I examined the system, the more I realized…education isn’t quite ready for this genius. Problem solved!
What I love about Citizen University is they immediately address the challenges and barriers faced when addressing civic education in the classroom; there can be cultural and codified barriers, making it feel charged, insufficient, or impossible to do. If you’ve been involved in education for any amount of time, you begin to see a pattern emerge. That education should be rigorous. We have to change our minds.

This project took a detour when I realized that, in the United States, we exist within a system that has not been designed to educate the individual.
The 5Sigma Education Conference was one of the best professional experiences I’ve had. It was the connections with others who are innovative and amazing in their education space. Even the things we do that share common education language (inquiry), look very different here. It wasn’t what I did.
