EducationElements supports the implementation of High-Quality InstructionalMaterials (HQIMs), and our previously published guide provides a comprehensive view of HQIMs. A thoughtfully crafted and rigorous curriculum can transform lives, and our lessons can make waves decades into the future.
Over the last 10 years, we have seen a significant shift in how educators access and leverage instructionalmaterials to guide instruction. As many states adopted new, more rigorous standards, curriculum providers rushed to create materials that would prepare students for college and career and state assessments.
This model was the best fit with existing campus and district initiatives, including the implementation of high-quality instructionalmaterials (HQIM) in Math and ELAR classes. At EducationElements, we partnered with Seguin ISD on this work, collaborating on three key steps which led to an increase in student-driven outcome data.
In our work with districts across the country, we frequently hear questions about instructionalmaterials–from how to select high quality programs that match their needs, to building processes that are inclusive of key stakeholders, to developing sustainable processes for regularly reviewing and refining curriculum, just to name a few.
As more and more high-quality instructionalmaterials (HQIM) become available, we have noticed a tension with districts across the country between being excited about the opportunities for new, rigorous materials, and the concern about when and how to get started.
