Edmodo -My favorite social network for schools, you can set up groups for grade levels and departments, share documents, set up polls and questionnaires and more. And there are lots of applications beyond the faculty sharing that folks could begin to see it being used in their classroom too.
There are a wide variety of products out there (like Edmodo ) to do this so spend some time finding one that suits your needs. It’s important today to create a virtual space for your classroom. Some districts provide a website for educators to do this, while others allow them to create their own.

Tools For Collaborating With Students - Here I discuss Google Docs, wikis, Edmodo and Social Bookmarking as ways to promote collaboration with and among students. Gather up resources and share them with students on your website, Edmodo page or where ever you share stuff like that. But what about taking a step further and using it as a psudo learning management system for your class. Create a board for each unit/topic/standard you teach. Are they using a social network like Edmodo or Schoology? And, again, technology enables us to do that much, much easier. Are there opportunities for students to share and reflect with each other and their teacher? Are they maintaining blogs? Or are you just seeing one student using the technology individually.
Get up, move around, work in groups, have everyone collaborate in Edmodo or on a Google Doc. Sure, I could stand in front of an audience and lecture for 60 minutes, taking questions every now and then. Or I could make my participants actually participate. We all have something to add to the conversation.
Use Edmodo & allow parents to join w/ code. No one who doesn''t trust you wants to communicate with you. Some things we deal with here - no phone hooked up, kids aren''t reliable to take paper home, and they have no internet connection. Can participate in discussions & keep up w/ all class activities.
Some are already using spaces where kids are like Facebook but I believe services like Edmodo (one of my favorites) will continue to grow and gain in popularity. Tablets- The iPad is wicked cool. While there are some imitators out there, I haven''t really seen good competition.
