Wang and Megha Srivastava points out the nuances of using AI to help students learn and that sometimes the tools that promote productive struggle are the better option even if students think they are less helpful. (I've written about the need for productive struggle in math on Edutopia, and so much of this research resonates with me.
Kids are getting bullied in digital spaces at an alarming rate. About 55% of students surveyed in 2023 reported being cyberbullied at some point, according to the Cyberbullying Research Center. If a kid gets stuffed in a locker, thats easy to see because thats happening in the physical environment. What theyre doing on their devices is more difficult to see, says Tracy Clements, K12 student safety subject-matter expert for GoGuardian.
