For years, organizers of “ Edcamps ,” a popular brand of informal professional development gatherings for teachers, received a resource kit sent by their host organization, the Edcamp Foundation. Last week, Digital Promise announced it had acquired the assets and operations of the Edcamp Foundation. It began with a box.
Edcamp Community at Digital Promise. Educators who organize the rigorous and personalizedlearning experiences at Edcamps know how comprehensive the experience is. The Edcamp Organizer micro-credential aims to honor these educator leaders’ depth of understanding about participant-driven professional development.
It is an opportunity to become better at what we do as well as gain knowledge on new pedagogical techniques, learning theories, leadership strategies, technologies, and federal/state mandates. We can all agree that professional development is essential in any profession, especially education.

But the reality is most schools and districts are not equipped to personalize the professional development of every educator. Edcamps can help fill that void.
