For the most part, this consisted of attending mandatory district “PD” days, professional learning communities (PLC)’s or approved off-site experiences such as conferences, workshops, or webinars. In March of 2009, I began to use Twitter, and it was at this time that I began to create a PersonalLearningNetwork (PLN).
The traditional forms of sit-and-get PD are giving way to MOOCs, webinars, Edcamps and flipped learning. The DIY Professional Development Kit from Edutopia is full of ideas and resources you can use to drive your own learning. I’ve been a part of a lot of successful PD and been a part of a lot of not so good PD.
LIVE webinars and am an organizer for the K12 Online Conference and EdCamp Phoenix. And if you just start following them, you’re going to build an amazing personallearningnetwork of people that are doing things that you’re really interested in.
