For years, organizers of “ Edcamps ,” a popular brand of informal professional development gatherings for teachers, received a resource kit sent by their host organization, the Edcamp Foundation. Last week, Digital Promise announced it had acquired the assets and operations of the Edcamp Foundation. It began with a box.
The traditional forms of sit-and-get PD are giving way to MOOCs, webinars, Edcamps and flipped learning. Then face-to-face time is spent going deeper with that understanding, creating something or looking at how the learning can be applied. I’ve been a part of a lot of successful PD and been a part of a lot of not so good PD.

To Address It: Collaboration took place between the state and school districts, which led to the growth of several large statewide professional learning opportunities—including three successful Google Summits, Wyoming’s first Edcamp, Wyoming Technology and Engagement Curriculum monthly webinars, and a statewide conference.
If you add a Hashtag, #Edchat for example, the range of your tweet is extended beyond your ten followers to thousands of educators who follow that specific #Edchat hashtag on a search column. After all is said and done, in regard to building a PersonalLearningNetwork, who one follows is much more important than who follows back.
