In an effort to connect all teachers, EdWeek author and Corwin editor Peter DeWitt enlisted the help of his professional learning network (PLN) in order to launch a series of books on digitallearning, digital leadership, mobile learning, digital citizenship, and everything else that is connected education.

Because digital devices and online environments can simultaneously be transformatively empowering and maddeningly disruptive, the work of integrating digitallearning tools into schools is usually difficult and complex. Fears about digitallearning tools are especially tricky because they’re primarily emotional, not logical.
Include multiple types of media to support learning. As I’ve mentioned before, blended and online learning makes it difficult to get context, and we need to offer multiple ways to process new information. There are always teachers who are eager to learn more and dive deeper into the content.

This is my fifth year of participating in this edcamp unconference in Chattanooga, TN. This participant directed day allows me to grow contacts outside of my school and learn from others- and edcamps are free.

But with the coronavirus pandemic disrupting more traditional professional learning opportunities like in-person conferences and workshops, it's time for you to chart your own course. Fortunately, there are plenty of informal ways to learn and grow professionally on your own.
Follow a hashtag of interest to you to see past chats and information for future chats that highlight your area of interest. Attending conferences, EdCamps, or meetups allows you to you find (or expand) your passion and purpose while increasing your opportunity to meet professionals who share that passion.

How can you create informallearning spaces for people to gather? There are schools where administrators are experimenting with models of teacher-led professional development like EdCamps. EdCamps are conferences or professional development days that have learning sessions, but they aren’t planned in advance.
