Even if physical buildings are forced to remain closed, we must remember that schools themselves are not closed—learning must, and will, continue. Digital learning also strengthens each teacher’s ability to meet the needs of each student, regardless of whether they are in the classroom or at home.

Whereas in the beginning, it felt more focused on digital learning and ed-tech, this year felt more like it was a hub for relevant education conversations. A small set of educators could always create an Edcamp , a model in need of revival in our times. And that they did. Students deserve better and more connected learners.

This was the rationale for starting teacher-centered Edcamps during professional development. Instead, teachers decide what they want to learn, and what they'd like to help others learn, instead of being force-fed one-size-fits-all PD. I want teachers to know we are part of the same team, with a common purpose.

To Address It: Collaboration took place between the state and school districts, which led to the growth of several large statewide professional learning opportunities—including three successful Google Summits, Wyoming’s first Edcamp, Wyoming Technology and Engagement Curriculum monthly webinars, and a statewide conference.
