Whereas in the beginning, it felt more focused on digitallearning and ed-tech, this year felt more like it was a hub for relevant education conversations. A small set of educators could always create an Edcamp , a model in need of revival in our times. And that they did. Students deserve better and more connected learners.
This was the rationale for starting teacher-centered Edcamps during professional development. Instead, teachers decide what they want to learn, and what they'd like to help others learn, instead of being force-fed one-size-fits-all PD. I want teachers to know we are part of the same team, with a common purpose.
To Address It: Collaboration took place between the state and school districts, which led to the growth of several large statewide professional learning opportunities—including three successful Google Summits, Wyoming’s first Edcamp, Wyoming Technology and Engagement Curriculum monthly webinars, and a statewide conference.
We adopted the edcamp "rule of two feet" for this event. Therefore, when I told them about digitallearning day I didn't ask for anything special to happen, I just asked them to allow visitors when they normally used technology in the classrooms. For many of our visitors, technology integration wasn't happening really.
Students are motivated to ask questions, find answers, and share their learning with classmates, teachers, and the Colchester (CT) community. In just three years we have grown from 125 participants to more than 600 this year.

The great thing about setting it up through Google Calendar is that it makes the recording automatically link to the Calendar event as well as the chat archive.
