At Mary Williams Elementary , we strive to create a similarly magical feeling. This was the rationale for starting teacher-centered Edcamps during professional development. Instead, teachers decide what they want to learn, and what they'd like to help others learn, instead of being force-fed one-size-fits-all PD.
To Address It: Collaboration took place between the state and school districts, which led to the growth of several large statewide professional learning opportunities—including three successful Google Summits, Wyoming’s first Edcamp, Wyoming Technology and Engagement Curriculum monthly webinars, and a statewide conference.
We adopted the edcamp "rule of two feet" for this event. Therefore, when I told them about digitallearning day I didn't ask for anything special to happen, I just asked them to allow visitors when they normally used technology in the classrooms. For many of our visitors, technology integration wasn't happening really.
Jaime serves on the Science Foundation Arizona Board of Directors, on the Board of Directors for New Global Citizens, is a member of the DigitalLearning Council, and a member of the South by Southwest EDU advisory Board. And we also organized India''s first edcamp, EdcampMumbai.
