For the better part of my educational career, I always referred to any type of learning to assist me as a teacher or administrator as professional development (PD). In March of 2009, I began to use Twitter, and it was at this time that I began to create a Personal Learning Network (PLN).

I must say that the definition and description above align seamlessly with the environment we are currently experiencing. Many kids have flourished during remote learning as they have been able to follow a unique path or learn at their own pace. A Personal Learning Network (PLN) is a must in a remote learning world.

You can either lurk and learn or develop your own Personal Learning Network (PLN) to farm the best ideas and strategies that are actually working in similar demographics. This definitely applies now. So many resources are being shared daily on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.

I believe the only way to inspire teachers to want to continue learning is if a school culture celebrates learning at all levels. ” That definition screams teaching. On the days when I leave my classroom feeling disillusioned or frustrated, I find solace in my own personal learning network on Twitter.

Also, last Spring I got several other members of my PLN to give me the reason why their PLN is important to them and why they find theirs valuable to their professional learning. Check it out.
