I set up this virtual mentorship program, where aspiring school leaders are set up with current school leaders K-12.

At the end of June a group of passionate, dedicated educators gathered for one of New Jersey’s last EdCamps of the 2017 school year. And how many elementary and middle schoolers do you see hanging out at Starbucks?) If the kids are laying on the rug reading, then why not plop down next to them and have your conference right there?

And then also from an elementary standpoint, I had a teacher use it in lieu of … she used to have her students write personal narratives and then they would bind the book together as a classroom set and put it in the library. Parents couldn’t really look at it unless they were in the library for parent-teacher conferences or whatever.

Technically, if one trusts the etymology, the best way for a teacher to confer with other educators would be an educator conference. Meanwhile, the most enthusiastic listeners whisper to each other, or form mini-groups outside the conference walls, maybe even at a social gathering later that day. HOW TO DO A SMALL UNCONFERENCE.
