Khan is the creator of Khan Academy. He began his keynote by sharing a video montage of Khan Academy highlights and then presenting some impressive statistics on usage. The catalyst for Khan Academy began some years ago with a Yahoo doodle Sal developed to help a family member with her struggles in math.

Blended learning occurs when an education program combines Internet-based media with traditional classroom methods. Khan Academy. Digital books are aligned with state standards and Common Core. Virtual meetings are easier, more respectful of everyone’s time, and more cost-effective for all stakeholders.

Bottom line: As a flipped-classroom or student-creation tool, this tool offers lots of opportunities for use, but teachers will need to be creative if they want students to engage. Khan Academy. Bottom line: A solid resource for Common Core math instruction as well as foundational knowledge in a number of other subjects.
