Google Classroom is a free web service that makes it easy for learners and teachers to connect. Google Classroom may not have as many features as Edmodo or Schoology , but it does work incredibly well with the Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Drawings suite of free online software. What if we adopted the model of the flipped classroom and applied it to meetings and Professional Development? Flipping PD and faculty meetings is essentially the same as flipping the classroom, but with adults. I am not a big fan of flipping the classroom. I will admit it. This was wildly popular in my district.

On Tuesday, I participated in a virtual conference - a professional learning opportunity - called #Edmodocon. It was presented by the good people over at the #Edmodo app/website. If you aren''t familiar, Edmodo is a social learning platform for schools, often called the "Facebook" for schools because its format is similar.

This fall, I return to the classroom. Well, partially return to the classroom. I''ve heard all the arguments over the years about administrators returning to the classroom to teach once in a while. The argument usually goes that administrators sometimes forget what it''s like to face a classroom full of students.

There are some tools that educators need to embrace and learn how to use both in and out of the classroom. Each of the tools on these lists have some value either with students or for professional development. I encourage you, as part of a professional resolution for the coming year to investigate these tools.
