Digital Promise is incredibly excited to welcome the Edcamp Foundation to our family of projects and programs. By fully merging our operations, we believe we can do even more to support the community of educators who organize and attend Edcamps across the United States and around the world.
Whether it’s purchasing classroom supplies out of their own pockets, exceeding work hours to complete mandated paperwork, implementing safety protocols for school invasions, or going above and beyond to engage families, educators find a way to get everything done—even while trying to maintain their own health, well-being, and sanity!
For years, organizers of “ Edcamps ,” a popular brand of informal professional development gatherings for teachers, received a resource kit sent by their host organization, the Edcamp Foundation. Last week, Digital Promise announced it had acquired the assets and operations of the Edcamp Foundation. It began with a box.

The PD centered around how to use clickers in the classroom. Then in the morning I went back and asked if I could lead a small group to talk about formative assessments and how we could use the clickers for that. When I was in the classroom I was part of a team that helped to decide the direction our PD at the school level would take.

I have to admit, that I’ve avoided edcamps and unconfernces for a while, because they have felt to me like group hugs… warm and cozy, but not a lot about moving my learning forward. Increase the value of learning through and from failure in our classrooms with students.
