As of late I have been doing a great deal of work with schools and districts on how to effectively implement digitallearning across the curriculum. When it comes to technology in general, the overall goal is to support learning, not drive instruction. It can also increase relevance and make the curriculum more contextual.
This was an extremely big deal five years ago and ultimately gave us an edge in terms of the many successful initiatives we rolled out including Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and digitallearning across the curriculum.
In response, students are also choosing the devices they want to use for learning, and why shouldn’t they? Similar to the age-old Apple vs. Android debate, students tend to have personal preferences about the devices they use for learning. Enter the age of BYOD. The benefits of a BYOD program are far-reaching.
Leaders should always be looking to improve instructional design and establishing accountability protocols to ensure efficacy in digitallearning. Innovative learning spaces and environments : Would you want to learn under the same conditions as your students do, or in similar spaces? This needs to be prioritized.
Practices such as BYOD, 1:1, blended learning, personalized learning, classroom and school redesign, branding, makerspaces, professional learning, etc. This need served as a call to action of sorts and catalyzed my current work.
Originally built to support administrative needs, the wireless network performed worse than expected during the district’s bring-your-own-device (BYOD) program rollout earlier that year.
