It can be as simple as just solving a math problem with each other, or doing a science project, or doing a whole chapter book that we are sharing books and ideas with. We all read the same book at the same time, but we each shared ideas throughout it, and we had different things we talked about in the book.

Vicki: And I would encourage all of our listeners to also pick up a book called Humility is the New Intelligence. Part of the thesis of the book is that the jobs that will be left will be those requiring creativity, problem solving, collaboration, and working with other people — things that machines cannot do very well at all.

My students and I were sort of stuck with two and a half weeks to tackle twenty-four books (or chapters) of The Odyssey by Homer. We have a very collaborative classroom, I let the students lead their learning as much as possible. Or, I mean we actually do have the books themselves. Tell us what you’re doing.
