In my last blog, I focused on the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principle of engagement. I highlighted how blendedlearning can help educators more effectively provide multiple means of engagement to increase student motivation and ensure all students can successfully engage with learning experiences.
I host a podcast called The Balance and wrote a book titled Balance with BlendedLearning because I see teachers struggling with balance in every coaching and training session I facilitate. So, students should do the heavy cognitive lift of making meaning and applying their learning.
Given that my focus is on designing and facilitating student-centered learning experiences utilizing blendedlearning, I suggest that teachers rethink their traditional approaches to helping students prepare for assessments. The person generating the study guide and review game is the one doing the critical thinking.

This workbook will expand your definition of online curriculum; highlight student and teacher needs and views of implementations; and provide opportunities to help you identify your goals.
Evidence of the need for these 4 C’s is embedded in Universal Design for Learning (UDL). To create truly student centered, personalized learning opportunities, teachers must design lessons with intention. This activity definitely highlights the glows and areas for growth in lesson design.
Cast Science Writer – This amazing UDL tool from the people at CAST scaffolds the process of supporting students in writing lab and class reports. Students are able to select different nodes to see the definition of that word group. I enjoy learning from all of you. Keep in mind that Visuwords is… a dictionary!
Research note: As Wall (2021) indicates, there is a definite connection between trauma and student behavior as well as student learning.
