Now serving Grades Pre-K through six, the administration and faculty of Duquesne Elementary, the district’s sole remaining school, are determined to provide each student with the best educational experience possible. It is obvious that students agree with Detweiler’s assessment. In 2012, students in Grades 7-8 followed suit.

Jennifer Gonzalez has released her 2018 Teachers Guide to Technology with over 200 education technology tools including tools for assessment, flipped learning, presentations, parent engagement, video engagement and more. We Don’t Have To Choose Between Assessment and Excellent Teaching. The assessment piece is important for kids.

For example, I had to assess “over the shoulder” by looking at what students were doing. Also, I’m able to easily assess and share their work in AR. I remember an elementary student seeing paper flyers with a caricature of Mr. South wearing one of his famous flannel shirts. When thinking of makerspaces today, our learning experience in his class was one connected to the guiding principles of the maker movement. However, Mr. South stood out.

We saw some movement in the 80’s and 90’s around portfolio development, around performance assessment, and other sorts of indicators of authentic work. One of the more interesting initiatives that we’re seeing is coming out of New York, a consortium of schools called the New York Performance Assessment Consortium. Scott: Right.

If you assess along the way, in this way, on your feet, by the time kids turn in those final copies, the quality is that much better because you provided bits of feedback along the way. #4: Assess on your feet, not at midnight on your weekend. How are you going to have them write on their feet and you assess on your feet?
