How can formative assessmentdata help students to develop their metacognitive skills? Formative assessments are ongoing assessments embedded throughout the learning process. This data allows the teacher to identify where students are struggling, where they are excelling, and where they need additional support.
This inquiry always prompts me to reflect: How many educators gather pre-assessmentdata before crafting their lesson plans? Such preliminary insights, whether through pre-assessments, diagnostics, or activities aimed at accessing prior knowledge, can illuminate the diverse range of skills, abilities, and needs within a classroom.
It entails individualized education plans (IEPs), differentiated instruction, and universal design for learning (UDL) to meet diverse needs.
