The ipad released and my school bought some. I found twitter, Edcamp and connected to teachers. It mattered that we didn’t go to a lab for access but that kids had access when needed. When you are connected, you have immediate access to ideas. That’s all I had initially on my ipads).

The situation had been deteriorating for a while, with daily Google Account access becoming so frustrating, I actually installed Outlook on iOS in an attempt to make email work on my phone. All of that and the comfort of knowing iOS worked well for our family (with iPads and AppleTVs being abundant in the house).

The key is good fiber between buildings and good cable into the classrooms for the Access Points. We installed a Meraki Access Point in every classroom. Of course chromebooks and iPads (or android tablets) are out there. I would advocate for any mobile device solution that put access into every student’s hands.
