Technology profoundly impacts student learning by providing versatile tools that cater to diverse learning styles, fostering engagement, collaboration, and personalized education. One key benefit is accessibility to a wealth of information, allowing students to conduct research and explore subjects beyond traditional resources.
Formal learning systems have in some cases been slower to adopt this model, rightfully concerned with accuracy of material and consistency; yet with ever increasing numbers of individuals accessing information in learning environments, the necessity of these formal systems to adopt technological change is very clear.
The professionals we spoke with described a process in which they began by collecting or gathering; moved to connecting content and resources for specific purposes and audiences; curated by adding value with context and commentary; and contributed by offering the community opportunities for collaboration, learning and growth.
