No, blended learning is NOT hype, at least not in my experience. However, I will say that I have seen people say that they are blending learning when it is not blended learning at all. Through all of this, here are some thoughts on blended learning today. What is blended learning?

On Thursday night, I presented a 30-minute webinar with AJ Juliani for educators focused on the concurrent classroom. An increasing number of educators are teaching in concurrent classrooms as schools attempt to accommodate families who want their kids back in classrooms and others who prefer to keep their kids in a virtual learning mode.

Access to devices and reliable WIFI needs to be emphasized. Kids also need access to equitable resources and learning experiences. If students are not engaged, then they most likely are not learning. Professional Learning Many schools were not prepared when the pandemic hit. Pedagogy Let’s begin with engagement.

I began our session by asking participants to tell me the first three words that came to mind when they heard the phrase “blended learning.” I even used it this morning when presenting a webinar on online learning for a large group of educators in Africa.
