In July 2018, Digital Promise launched a new Maker Learning Leadership Cohort dedicated to professional learning, peer connections, and school transformation in the Pittsburgh region. The following year, the former wood shop was established as the Boiler Room, a workspace for students in Grades 3-6.

This makes looking ahead at 2018 exciting because there is so much opportunity for districts and educators to elevate their curriculum with innovation right at their fingertips. The most hopeful potential impact of 2018’s edtech landscape is the opportunity for nurturing skills that will help students succeed in the future of work.
If perhaps you were to approach this same list of categories with topics like Virtual and Augmented Reality, the MakerMovement, Coding, and/or Robotics… you may find yourself in a different adopter category. The MakerMovement’s Innovator may also be the Robotic’s Laggard, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
