When I think about how to effectively empower educators to create personalized professionallearning for themselves, I often think of Google’s “20% time”, where employees had 20% of their own time to move forward Google as an organization. “We Let’s start with the second point first.

I would not recommend STARTING to form a ProfessionalLearning Network when attending a conference for the first time. Having found the #flipclass chat, I discovered #Flipcon and attended virtually in 2013 which then led to attending in person at #Flipcon14 and #Flipcon15.

Things such as Genius Hour, Innovation Week/Day, Identity Day, Maker Spaces, EdCamps, Flipped Classrooms, revamped professionallearning opportunities, using social media to create powerful opportunities for learning, and a myriad of other empowering ways to learn, are things that didn’t exist when I went to school.
