Since 2011 Banned Books Week has included a day to recognize banned websites. Teachers and principals also increasingly voice opposition to blocking social websites, noting that schools have an obligation to teach students how to use socialmedia responsibly. Socialmedia is already a part of their frameworks as teens.
Here is a short list of some of the changes that have been implemented and sustained: Socialmedia use as a communications, public relations, branding, professional growth, and student learning tool implemented in 2009. As my first form of business, I think that the library should go. My belief is that dealing with technology and socialmedia is not something we can simply use “hope for the best” as a strategy. Recently, I saw this powerful video from 2011, and it reminded me of how much we take for granted.
