Schools bring mindfulness to the classroom to help kids in the Covid-19 crisis

In late March, Mindful Schools created a free mindfulness series for kids, in response to Covid-19, which was shared 87,000 times on social media, a record for them. Coleman Elementary, hasn’t had a suspension in six years, according to the principal. They noted that it drew 10 times the organization’s usual number of attendees.

In Tennessee, 50,000 or roughly 5 percent of the state’s elementary and middle school students were assigned high-dosage tutoring during the 2021-22 school year. Tutoring was a big component of the 2001 No Child Left Behind law that aimed to lift the achievement of low-income children.
